December 30th Bowl Games Open Thread

Four bowl games take place today, and since they will be running all day starting at 11:00 a.m.,  I figured it would be best to just have one big open thread for all of the games. Just chime in here with all of your thoughts and comments on today's action.

Army v. SMU will kick things off at 11:00, an odd match-up pitting an institution known for causing death against an institution known for receiving death. Kansas State v. Syracuse kicks off next at 2:20, and no I have no earthly idea why anyone ever thought it would be a good idea to play a football game in the Bronx in late December between two barely above .500 teams, but nevertheless that is what will take place. Also, for those up late tonight, we'll have football then in the form of the Holiday Bowl, pitting Nebraska v. Washington. In an odd turn of events, this is actually a rematch, as the Huskers annihilated the Huskies in Seattle in mid-September, and most expect that the end result will largely be the same the second time around.

The real marquee game for us 'Bama fans will be the Music City Bowl, kicking off at 5:40. That will be the opening game of bowl play for the SEC, with Tennessee going against North Carolina. That's an amusing game because Tennessee actually chickened out of that match-up to open the season in Atlanta, so let's hope we start off the SEC bowl season with a bang with the Vols getting their asses handed to them by the Tarheels and their Agentgate decimated squad.
