Football for breakfast this morning brings us the return of the Red River Shootout. Oklahoma comes into Dallas with sights set on New Orleans while the revamped Longhorns look to prove their 4-0 start is no cupcake-induced mirage. OU and Texas square off at 11:00 on ABC.
In SEC action, South Carolina travels to Lexington to take on Joker Phillips' Kentucky Wildcats. Connor Shaw will be getting the start in place of Stephen Garcia, and Steve Spurrier insists that he means it this time (no, I'm not buying it either). The Gamecocks look to rebound from last weekend's disaster, and the 'Cats are looking for Phillips to do something -- anything -- to indicate he may be a competent head coach. Catch this one at 11:20 on your regional SEC network. Also in SEC action we have Mississippi State traveling to Legion Field to take on UAB in what ought to be an easy win, though a win will not come easy if the Bullies continue to play as they have in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, in other action around the country, West Virginia and UConn, two schools vying like hell to get out of the Big East, meet in Morgantown. Boring Big Ten action features Minnesota v. Purdue on ESPN and Louisville takes on North Carolina in Chapel Hill (sadly, though, not in basketball) at 11:00 on ESPN2. Georgia Tech faces Maryland on ESPNU if you're into the triple-option and uniform gimmicks.
We'll have the 'Bama threads up later this evening, but in the meantime chime in here with all of your thoughts and comments.
