NFL Draft Round One: Open Thread

With all that's going on right now it seems wrong to spend our time watching a bunch of guys become instant millionaires because of a game, but truth be told I'm sure we could all use a brief respite to take some joy in seeing a couple of the guys that have brought us so much happiness over the past few years moving on with their careers where I'm sure they'll do us proud.  SBNation's Mock Draft has them shaking out like so:

2. Denver Broncos: Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama. Other names are being floated here, Von Miller and Patrick Peterson chief among them. I believe that's to drum up trade interest. Dareus is still the best fit.

14. St. Louis Rams: Julio Jones, WR, Alabama. It's been obvious for month that the Rams were the latest Jones would be off the board. If he goes earlier, this pick is expected to be Corey Liuget.

28. New England Patriots: Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama. After re-vamping their offense to a two-tight end attack last year, the missing piece is a true workhorse running back. That's what Ingram gives the Pats.

First round draft coverage begins tonight at 7:00pm CST on ESPN and the NFL Network, or you can watch it online via NFL.com

Update:  Greg McElroy is doing his NFL Draft Twitter coverage routine again, and he's off to a solid start:

Update: The first round of the 2011 NFL Draft is in the books, and the Tide landed a school record four players in the first round.

#3. Marcell Dareus - Buffalo Bills

#6. Julio Jones - Atlanta Falcons

#25. James Carpenter - Seattle Seahawks

#28. Mark Ingram - New Orleans Saints

We'll have a special Jumbo Package post in the morning with reactions from the fans and local media covering each team.  Remember folks, we had ZERO players selected in the 2008 draft, and tonight we watched four players go in the first round alone.  #PROCESS
