We're at the final day of the Tuscaloosa Regional, and our Tide can punch their ticket to the Super Regional round with a win this afternoon.  Because the Regionals are double elimination, the Tide can still drop the 1:00 game and have another shot at 6:00, but let's hope it doesn't come to that.  Whoever wins the Tuscaloosa Regional will move on to face the winner of the Stanford Regional (either Stanford or Nebraska) in a best of three series.

Today's opponent, Chattanooga, dropped their first game of the weekend to Memphis 4-1 before taking out both Memphis and Jackson State in a late double header yesterday.

Chattanooga 8 - Jackson State 1 | Box Score

The game was scoreless until the top of the fourth inning when Chattanooga plated five runs. The Mocs added three runs in the top of the seventh to pad its lead before Jackson State scored its lone run of the game in the bottom of the seventh. Chattanooga's Nikki Waters (14-4) picked up the win while the Tiger's LeEthel Guillory (13-10) took the loss.

Chattanooga 2 - Memphis 1 | Box Score

The game was scoreless until the top of the sixth inning when Chattanooga scored a pair of runs. The Tigers, who lost to Alabama in Saturday’s first game to drop into an elimination game, made it interesting, putting a trio of runners on base in the bottom of the seventh, scoring one and stranding two.

Meanwhile, our beloved Tide handled Memphis with ease in the first game yesterday, winning 7-1. Memphis scored first, posting its lone run of the contest in the bottom of the first inning before  Kelsi Dunne put on the brakes, holding the Tigers scoreless the rest of the way. Alabama responded to Memphis’ opening salvo with a four-run second inning, adding another run in the fifth and two more in the sixth to put the game effectively out of reach.  Fingers crossed we won't need a Game 7 thread, but should the need arise we'll have one later this afternoon.  Roll Tide.
