Hueytown quarterback Jameis Winston is a five-star football recruit, rated No. 52 in the nation by rivals.com, but Monday night in Montgomery, he showed why he also has baseball scouts drooling. After the game, he told The Birmingham News "I know where I want to go," added that he wanted to play baseball as well as football, and he wouldn't pass up "first-round money" if he was selected that high in the MLB first-year player draft.

Former Alabama baseball stars Alex Avila of the Detroit Tigers and David Robertson of the New York Yankees combined to play six innings tonight in the Major League Baseball All-Star Game in Phoenix.
Avila started at catcher for the American League and played five innings.
Robertson pitched a scoreless second inning for the American League.

The Lou Groza award's watch list for kickers and punters includes 30 names and the Jim Thorpe award's list for defensive backs has 37.
