"My freshman year I used to go for the big hit because I like to hit hard, but now I would rather be a sure tackler," Barron said. "I don't want to be that guy who goes for the hard hit and misses the tackle. … I try not to go too hard and be too aggressive and make sure I can make the tackle, even though I might like to take their head off."
The Alabama-North Texas game on Sept. 17 at Bryant-Denny Stadium will kick off at 6:30 p.m. CDT, Fox Sports Net announced today.

Chris Stewart, the radio play-by-play announcer for Alabama's men's basketball broadcasts, is adding football radio and TV work to his list of duties. Stewart will be the sideline reporter for football games this season, a task previously handled by former player Barry Krauss. Also, Stewart will host the Nick Saban TV Show, a 30-minute show that features highlights and interviews. He has been a member of the Crimson Tide Sports Marketing team since 1999.

An "Outside the Lines" review of video scouting reports purchased by the LSU football program last fall from talent scout Willie Lyles has found they contain highlights of players who already were playing Division I football at other programs and poor-quality, full-game shoots that did not isolate or identify any players at all. The analysis of video footage obtained by "Outside the Lines" through a public-records request concludes that the information would likely be of little use during the recruiting process.
As Yahoo reported weeks ago, LSU paid for California / Kansas Juco package, but per Will Lyles: "all they wanted to discuss was Texas high schools." NCAA limits number of recruiting services a school can purchase in a region. LSU already had TX service, so Lyles became JUCO scout. In no way should anyone believe Will Lyles conned LSU. LSU knew he wasnt a CA/KS JUCO scout when it hired him.

The Big 12 also delayed the possibility of a conference game on the Longhorn Network, announced earlier this month as part of a side deal with Fox.
