First off, we are aware of the "Dee Hart tore is ACL" chatter that's been floating around on Twitter since last night. No one official has confirmed it, so until they do fingers crossed it's just a rumor. If it's not, there's still no need to panic. We're talking about a true freshman here who's biggest role will likely be on special teams or as a sub package back. Richardson and Lacey are going to be handling 95% of the load while Jalston Fowler is more than capable of being the 3rd back, so it's not a huge blow to depth. Still, hate to see anyone get hurt, especially since the severity of the injury and rehab process could have long term effects on his career.
Stephanie VanBrakle Named Alabama Pitching Coach - rolltide.com
Alabama head softball coach Patrick Murphy has named former Crimson Tide All-American Stephanie VanBrakle as the new pitching coach, he announced Tuesday. VanBrakle returns to Tuscaloosa after spending one season as the head coach at Samford.
In her first season as a head coach in 2009, VanBrakle led the Panthers to a remarkable 32-5 record. The team broke 13 program records, including the mark for number of wins. Her first team posted a .364 team batting average and 1.19 ERA. In 2010, VanBrakle's team finished with a record of 25-9 overall and 12-4 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Though the above "slipping and sliding" Steele metric is mildly doubtful of Carolina's ability to maintain last year's gains, neither presumptive divisional favorite has anything to worry about from this statistical perspective. In fact, thanks to several blowout wins and their losses to LSU and Auburn by a combined four points, Alabama was the second-most unfortunate team in the league last year behind Georgia.
If the Tide get a handful more breaks and have the defense we're all expecting? Look out.

7. Kirby Smart (Alabama defensive coordinator) Smart is ready for a promotion. He won the Frank Broyles Award, given to the nation’s top assistant, in 2009. He is Alabama’s assistant head coach and is the highest-paid coach Nick Saban’s staff. He’s a top recruiter and has NFL experience, all the ingredients to be a good head man somewhere. With the Crimson Tide defense expected to rise again this fall, we’d be shocked if he’s still at Alabama in 2012.
