Questions I have about this game:
1. How will Alabama's OL play against LSU's front seven? WIll they continue to improve or regress?
2.. How will Alabama's DB's hold up against the LSU passing game?
3. Will Alabama be able to get pressure on Mettenburger?
4. Can Alabama hold LSU below their season average rushing yards per game?

Thoughts on LSU

LSU is one of those teams where you have no clue what you're going to get from week to week.

In a down pour against Auburn, both teams rushed for for over 200 yards and both quarterbacks went for 220+. LSU went up 21-0 and hit the brakes a little too early, allowing Auburn to score two 3rd quarter touchdowns..

The LSU offensive looked spectacular against UGA, but the defense left a lot to wish for allowing nearly 300 yards in  the air and an additional 200 on the ground.

Against Mississippi State, the game was extremely close through three quarters but in the 4th, LSU put 28 points on the board which made a hard fought contest look like a blow out.

A then healthy UF defense held LSU to just 17 points but the LSU defense gave up just 6. The Tigers were balanced on offense and stifling on defense.

The following week LSU turned in its worst performance of the season, losing to Ole Miss on the road 24-27. Ole Miss actually led 24-14 heading into the 4th quarter. Mettenburger threw three picks in the game against a solid, but not great, Ole Miss secondary.

Call it a hangover or looking ahead to Bama, but even Furman hung with LSU for the first half before eventually allowing 28 unanswered 2nd half points...

After two SEC losses, and one against Ole Miss who had lost to Alabama, Auburn and A&M in previous weeks, this season has left LSU fans frustrated to say the least. This frustration led to our pals over at ATVS to ask, "Why So Angry?"

This team is not going to win the national title. It very likely won't win the SEC either. But it wins more than it loses and by any rational measure, times are good. I can understand being disappointed, but I just don't get the level of anger and vitriol. I'm not saying LSU fans who are angry are wrong, I'm just saying, I don't get it at all. I don't understand.

If this team can't bring you a little bit of joy, then why on earth are you watching? If nothing but a national title will make you happy, boy, are you setting yourself up to be miserable. Heck, by that standard, even an Alabama fan has been miserable more often than not.

This isn't about accepting mediocrity or any such nonsense. This is about making a concerted effort to enjoy the thing you say you enjoy. If a 7-2 team is making you miserable, you may need to re-evaluate your life decisions. It's almost as if you want to be miserable.

Is this season disappointing? Sure. But there's still three more games plus a bowl game to play. That's four more LSU football games before the long slog of No Football. Football weekends are pretty rare, so we need to cherish those weekends. There's even an Alabama game in two weeks and I don't know about you, but I'm pretty excited by that. I've been looking forward to it for about ten months now.

Know this: Jeremy Hill is still a fantastic running back, the offensive line is one of the best in the league, Mettenburger can be deadly, the WR corps is also one of the best in the league, and the defense is still very talented.

Forget the numbers and how LSU has looked so far and don't look past this LSU team. Just in case you didn't know this but a wounded Tiger can still eat you.
