Coach Nick Saban has added another top cornerback for the future of Alabama football. Kalvaraz Bessent committed to Alabama on Tuesday. Bessent is 6-1, 190 lbs and hails from Camden County High School in Kingsland, Georgia near the Jekyll Island area on the Georgia east coast.
He has offers from almost every SEC school including Georgia and Florida, as well as Florida State and Ohio State. Rivals, 247sports, and Scout currently rank him with 4 stars (ESPN has no rankings for 2014 as of yet).
Bessent opened the 2012 season with a 48-yard pick-six in a game in the Georgia Dome. The big CB went on to a 41 tackle, six interception junior campaign. He also added four pass break ups.
The Crimson Tide's February 23rd Junior Day made a big impression on Bessent. After a conversation with his father, he decided there no is better place for him.
"I spoke to Coach Smart and Coach Saban this morning and I told them how excited I was about Alabama and that I wanted to commit. They said they were excited about it and that I could be very successful in their program. They told me I am the top cornerback they are after and that I can do great things for them."
