The Goalpost Goddess: Welcome Home Coach

New, comments

Jim McElwain was our Offensive Coordinator from February 1, 2008 - December 12, 2011. He became the first CSU coach to defeat Colorado in his debut since 1970. They managed to finish 4-8 during his first season… and now the road has led back to Tuscaloosa for him.

I can't imagine what is going through Coach McElwain's head. This has to be like some sort of torture and glee wrapped into a big ball of indefinites. They're coming to Bryant Denny to possibly be eviscerated but also to get paid well to do so. They're also coming to Tuscaloosa to suffer through some pretty hard rain if Mr. Spann is to be believed.

After last week's disaster of a trip to College Station, I wouldn't care if Jack Frost came for an early visit to the Capstone. It would still be less cold than the reception I received in Aggieland. I'm grateful for the opportunity for the team and the fans to recover from the Aggies' effect on all of us.

As I was doing my research on this game I was looking into the Win-Loss record for CSU and ran across this little gem - "Overall, the Rams are 473-521-33". I have to tell you all something, that actually broke my heart. How does a team even continue to exist on a losing record like that? Are there actually CSU fans? Are there traditions at CSU? What do those look like?

It's hard for me to even get ramped up for this game other than to say that I'm very excited to return to BDS and welcome back the 2012 National Champions to their home field. This will be opening day at home, we'll get to see the new opening videos, new lineup videos, new Million Dollar Band halftime shows, etc. All the pomp and circumstance that comes with being back "home" for those of us who have been traveling to games for so long and a new experience for those who have never been there before. I'm pretty excited about that part.

If anyone is going to be in town and would like to get together at some point, post in the comments. We'll be in town early enough on Saturday afternoon trying to take in all the game day activities. We'd love to see any of y'all that are around.

Again, each week I'm going to leave you with these three things:

1. The RollBamaRoll Welcome Center (in case you missed it.)

2. My email for any questions you may have that you don't want to leave in comments:

3. One of the most delicious men on television right now, the RBR Beau:

Mr. Anson Mount:

"Do you not believe in a higher power?" "Yes, Sir! I wear it on my hip!"

Enjoy your home opener responsibly everyone and

Roll Tide, Y'all!!
