I said yesterday that I expected us to lose one or two guys before spring ball, and it seems those dominoes are already falling.
I had an incredible year at Bama, it's sad to say that it will be my last,I'm excited for the next chapter of my life and what it will bring

We certainly have a glut at quarterback (though a dearth of experience), so seeing a quarterback transfer is not all that surprising. The fact that Del Rio is the one transferring, though is a bit of a surprise. By all accounts, in his first year Del Rio had already passed redshirt freshman Alec Morris as well as fellow true freshman all-star Cooper Bateman.
Barring an impending transfer by FSU's Jacob Coker, Del Rio would be the presumptive second string quarterback, and would have had a real chance to push for the starter role. Furthermore, because Del Rio was a walk on, there would have been a strong incentive for us to keep him as a sort of "freebie" where the roster is concerned.
Alas, that was not to be, and it seems "the river" is now seeking greener pastures. We wish him the best of luck.
