"They're improving but we're still not striking up front, playing as physical, converting pass rush, getting the kind of execution that we need doing the little things right especially when we're doing stunts and pressures," Saban said after Saturday's scrimmage.
Sounds like my assumption may have been right yesterday. It's possible the low rushing numbers so far in scrimmages are indicative of the DL playing stout against the run and the high passing numbers are due to their lack of being able to generate a pass rush. The thing is, we aren't really missing that many guys right now. The only incoming guy who may be able to make an impact will be Da'Shawn Hand.
But you know a group we haven't heard much about so far this Spring? Special teams. I would like to know how the punters are looking so far.
But the spring game last Saturday didn't go very well. Kelly was 10-of-18 for 113 yards with two interceptions and did not play in the second half. According to reports, Kelly was upset when coaches decided late in the first half not to go for it on fourth-and-3, then, according to the Post and Courier of Charleston, S.C., he "let the coaches hear it at halftime." When they benched him in response, the newspaper said Kelly was observed "sniping into the fourth quarter at coaches."
Wow, bro, it's just a Spring game. No need to get all hot and bothered by a no call on 4th and 1. And could you imagine a player letting Saban "know about it at half-time"?
Five-star Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter's Prep cornerback Minkah Fitzpatrick told Rivals.com Saturday that Alabama is his leader and there's a "slight chance" he could even commit this weekend as he visits Tuscaloosa for the A-Day game.
"I've got a lot of family in Alabama – my father's side is from there – so that's a big plus," Fitzpatrick told Rivals' Mike Farrell during a Rivals Camp Series event in New Jersey, where he received an invitation to the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge in Baltimore. "Coach (Nick) Saban is one of the greatest defensive back coaches and one of the greatest coaches of all time. Getting to learn from him for three or four years would be a great experience and I felt like I'd become the best player I could be there."
This could be a big week as Bama could land two 5 Star recruits by Saturday.
Alabama will be under the Georgia Dome lights when it kicks off the 2014 season against West Virginia, but it will be hours away from sunset. The Crimson Tide's showdown with the Mountaineers in the Aug. 30 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game will kick off at 2:30 p.m. (central), West Virginia announced Saturday. The game will air on ABC
I like the idea of the early game. I hate sitting around all day waiting for the game to start.
Green-Beckham was reportedly involved in a burglary that took place Saturday night. He allegedly forced his way into an apartment while the female occupant was attempting to close the door, then assaulted another occupant causing her to fall down at least four stairs. The wideout was reportedly looking for his girlfriend, who later texted one of the women and warned her against pressing charges.
No arrests were made at the conclusion of an investigation. Green-Beckham is reportedly set to enter counseling.
I know this happened last week but goode lowered. Oh, and the ringing sound you here is Auburn blowing up DGB's cell phone.
"You have to focus on the moment that you are in, whatever you're doing today, whatever you're doing right now to prepare yourself, so that you have the best chance to be successful and take advantage of the opportunity that you have," Saban told the gymnasts, according to UA athletics. "And it is an opportunity, so it should be a fun thing."
These pictures, especially the one of Saban standing between the girls and has absolutely no clue what to do with his hands,...priceless.
