Just days after it was announced that Christophe Varidel would joining the University of Alabama basketball team, head coach Anthony Grant has announced that rising senior Nick Jacobs has been released from his scholarship and is free to transfer out.
"We want to thank Nick for his contributions to our program the past three seasons," Grant said. "We wish him success with the next chapter of his career."
The 6-8/245 forward played in 25 games this past season before being given an "indefinite leave of absence" from the team. At the time, Grant called it "a pattern of behavior and inconsistencies with his responsibilities as a student athlete."
The departure of Jacobs leaves the Crimson Tide with one more scholarship to give with the final signing date of May 21, 2014 looming.
