Tide Hoops Signs ESPN 100 PF Braxton Key

Key, the nation's No. 19 Power Forward, adds size and athleticism to a rebuilding Alabama roster

On the heels of SG/SF Ar'Mond Davis' signing, it's official for power forward Braxton Key.

Key, the no. 19 forward in the nation and ESPN 100 recruit, held offers from Texas and Vanderbilt. At 6'7", 200 pounds, he's a heavy hitter down low, has a great touch, and adds athleticism to a Tide roster that has been lacking in depth and SEC-caliber starters in the post for a while.

When Key signed in September, he had this to say about an Alabama coaching staff he absolutely adores:

“Next year I’ll be attending the University of Alabama,” Key said. “I really just love the coaches there. Coach Johnson, coach Scott [Posphical], coach [Antoine] Pettway and then coach [Bob] Simon has been recruiting me since freshman year. We go way back. That helps a lot. I feel comfortable with their team.

“It’s just hard to say no to a guy that played in the NBA and won a title and made it to the title game as a coach,” Key said. “If you make it that far you have to know what you’re doing. Playing for coach Johnson is a no brainer for me. He’s a man of God, which is great for me. That’s huge for me".

Welcome to the Crimson Tide, Braxton, and Roll Tide. #BuckleUp
