It will be a clash of softball titans as the 2012 champs Alabama invites the 2013 champs Oklahoma into their web.

OKLAHOMA

The Sooners (48-7) are led by seniors Lauren Chamberlain (.403, 20 HR, 60 RBI) and Shelby Pendley (.434, 24 HR, 65 RBI). OU has five players hitting over .400. Freshman Paige Parker has been the workhorse in the circle, starting 28 games and posting a 27-5 record with a 1.49 ERA. She is also one of those .400+ hitters. Pendley (12-1, 2.33 ERA) also pitches in relief and occasionally gets a start.

Oklahoma is 3-7 all-time against the Crimson Tide with all 10 contests occurring at neutral sites (although several of the games have been played in Oklahoma City). Their last meeting came a year ago with the Tide defeating the Sooners 6-2 in the first round of the Women's College World Series (WCWS). In 2012, Bama won Games 2 and 3 in the championship series to win the WCWS crown.

ALABAMA

No team looked more dominant in the Regionals than the Crimson Tide. SEC Freshman of the Year Alexis Osario was outstanding giving up only three hits and one unearned run in two games against Washington. All-American Haylie McCleney banged out four home runs over the weekend and raised her batting average to an astronomical .461. Sophomore Marisa Runyon (18 HR, 75 RBI) continued her rampage against opposing pitchers as well. The Tide had 34 hits - nine of which were homers - and scored 28 runs in the three game Regional tournament.

COMMON OPPONENTS

Oklahoma was 2-3 versus SEC competition during the regular season with two losses at LSU and one defeat at the hands of Georgia at a neutral site tournament in Palm Springs, Calif. Their SEC wins came against Kentucky, also in Palm Springs, and a home win over last place Arkansas. Last weekend they took two from Texas A&M in the Norman Regional. Bama did not play any Big XII teams this season.
