The Father's Day Bracket To End All Brackets

Father's Day is not until next Sunday, June 21st. But, you dads out there know how the day invariably goes: Sometimes you get a tie or a gadget. No one plans a huge, elaborate lunch for you. Kids are not on their best behavior. And your Sunday passes much the same as any other Sunday (15% off at Sears, a six-pack in silence and/or a "Movies For Guys Who Like Movies" marathon.) Even worse, sometimes your family just up and does you dirty -- even taking the big piece of chicken.

Enough is enough, long-suffering dads out there.

I've decided to give you all a special gift. Beginning today, and extending though Father's Day, Roll 'Bama Roll is going to have the most balls-to-walls, Rambo-sweatingest, things-blowing-uppest, car-chasingest, shallow-dialogue-having, weapon-wieldingest, Bracket Challenge ever, as we go through 85 years of film history, on six continents, and decide who is truly the best action movie star of all time.

The rules are simple. A crack panel has selected 64 movie stars from all eras and all nations, from different races, ethnicities, film styles, and gender.  Each day you decide their fate.

  • The format is exactly like that of the NCAA tournament. We've ranked the entrants 1-64, divided the actors up into four "regional" brackets, and then seeded each person 1-16 in their bracket. The brackets are named after iconic lines from action films: "Too old for this s***," "Yippee ki yay," "Get to the choppa'," and "Do you feel lucky."
  • Votes go live at 3:00 p.m. central and you have until 12:00 p.m. central the following day to cast your ballot.
  • First Round: Sunday - Too old for this shit, Yippee ki yay
  • First Round: Monday - Get to the choppa, Do you feel lucky
  • Second Round: Tuesday - Too old for this shit, Yippee ki yay
  • Second Round: Wednesday - Get to the choppa, Do you feel lucky
  • Sweet 16: Thursday
  • Elite 8: Friday
  • Final Four: Saturday
  • Father's Day: Finals, Consolation Game, and your Father's Day open thread

I know some folks were ommitted (for instance, most of the Avengers, although Chris Evans is a fine actor; Pam Grier, Matt Damon etc.) We were going for as broad an audience as possible.

Here is your bracket (click to embiggen:)
