This past week was a big recruiting week for the Crimson Tide. The Football Camp/High School Session II was held July 13-16 concluding with a "Champions Cook Out" for special invited 2016 and 2017 prospects.
During this time, Alabama received a commitment from one of the nation's top five running backs, B.J. Emmons. Some may compare him to Mark Ingram but at 5-11 and somewhere between 225-230 lbs, he is a little bigger than the 2009 Heisman winner. In size, he may compare more to Eddie Lacy. Emmons is a powerful back who doesn't try fancy jukes. He just hits the holes and goes. He has a great ability to break tackles and get down the field. The Morganton, N.C. (Freedom HS) resident has excellent breakaway speed and excels at catching balls out of the backfield.
Emmons finished his junior season with 2,348 yards rushing and 38 touchdowns.
The 4-star had committed to Georgia back in December but reopened his recruitment in June. Butch Jones and most recruiting "experts" thought he was a lock for Tennessee. But Bama assistant Tosh Lupoi changed that.
Emmons is commitment No. 18 for the Tide. He is the first running back of this class. He chose Bama over the Vols and UGA.
