Updated: Alabama Remains No. 2 in Both Major Polls

Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

As expected, there was some significant movement among SEC teams in the USA Today Coaches' Poll. When the dust settled, only seven SEC teams remained as losers Arkansas Razorbacks and Tennessee Volunteers fell out. Auburn should probably feel fortunate to remain in the top 15, a particularly baffling ranking considering that the Louisville Cardinals team they struggled with now sits at 0-2 after losing to the powerhouse Houston Cougars.

The Ohio State Buckeyes remain at the top followed by the Alabama Crimson Tide , TCU Horned Frogs, Michigan State Spartans, and Baylor Bears. Rounding out the top ten are the Florida State Seminoles, USC Trojans, Georgia Bulldogs, Clemson Tigers, and a perpetually overrated Notre Dame Fighting Irish squad that just lost its starting QB for the season while barely escaping the mediocre Virginia Cavaliers. The other SEC teams listed: #11 Ole Miss Rebels, #14 LSU Tigers, the aforementioned #15 Auburn Tigers, #18 Texas A&M Aggies, and #20 Missouri Tigers. The Wisconsin Badgers come in at #23, helping Alabama's case.

Update: Alabama also sits #2 in the newest AP Poll. The top 5 is identical.
