Week 10 CFB Point Spreads: Alabama opens a touchdown favorite at LSU

Vegas sees a tight game between the SEC rivals

NCAA Football: Alabama at Louisiana State Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Both Alabama and LSU come into the 2016 meeting red hot, and oddsmakers have adjusted accordingly. I’m not going to give you advice as to whether or not Alabama could or should cover a 7.5-point spread in Baton Rouge, but I will point out the following trend: Since 2008, Alabama in these road meeting has won in two overtime games (‘08, ‘14) and won on a last-minute screen pass (‘12). In two of those victories, Alabama had to mount a fourth quarter comeback to tie or take the lead. The other Saban-era Baton Rouge meeting was a three-point Alabama loss (‘10.)

In other words, these have tended to be very close games in Louisiana, no matter how dominant Alabama has looked (‘14,) its clear talent differential (‘10,) or how sketchy LSU may be playing leading into the week (‘12).
