Coming into the season, we had heard that five-star freshman Lyndell “Mack” Wilson out of Carver-Montgomery High School could play some serious linebacker. Of course, Alabama’s embarrassment of wealth at the position makes finding early playing time a tough hill to climb.
Turns out that Mack can do a little more than play linebacker, and his versatility got him onto the field early. A standout on special teams, we learned against Western Kentucky that he can also play a little fullback. T.J. McCollum, a 240-lb. junior LB at WKU who played his high school ball at nearby Clay-Chalkville and is one of many UAB refugees, will certainly remember him:
Simply devastating. Mack would further demonstrate his versatility with this athletic TD catch against Kent State:

He is going to be a joy to watch over the next couple of seasons.
Roll Tide.
