When your favorite team is as consistently dominant as Alabama, on-field highlights will always be in abundant supply. Sometimes, however, moments that happen off the field are even more special.
Lawrence Erekosima was not a ranked recruit coming out of high school, does not appear to have received any notable scholarship offers to play football. Standing just 5’7” and weighing in at around 175 pounds, walking on at Alabama certainly required a certain amount of courage. As they say, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Lawrence’s mother, Jacqueline Page, serves in the U.S. Army and left for Kuwait shortly after the Clemson game in January. While Lawrence gets an opportunity to speak with her every day, he had no idea that she would be able to surprise him on Senior Day:
Awesome surprise on Senior Day for Lawrence Erekosima from his mother! #RollTide pic.twitter.com/nHns9VMLT9

Coaches often have a soft spot for those scout team guys who show up every day, knowing that they will rarely see the field, if ever. Lawrence has done it for four years now and certainly seems to have made an impression on the head man, who had nothing but glowing remarks about the scout teamer as he spoke about the moment. Coach even got choked up a little:
It was a special moment for a special family. Thank you to Jacqueline for her service, and may the young man who she has clearly raised exceptionally well use the degree that he has earned to maximize his potential in whatever field he has chosen.
Roll Tide.
