This may shock you, but Lane Kiffin was bound-and-determined to the throw the ball, despite the Tide pummeling Washington on the ground, with the bruising Bo Scarbrough doing most of the heavy lifting. Fortunately, Jeremy Pruitt’s defense found a way to outscore the Huskies in the first half, capitalizing on two Washington turnovers to give Alabama a 17-7 lead at the break.

The second half was more of the same, in an increasingly chippy game: curious playcalling, bad penalties by the Big 10 crew that screwed up the Ohio State-Michigan game, and a generally out-of-synch offense. Fortunately, the best of the First Half Alabama also came out of the locker room: a relentless defense, great punting by JK Scott, and a 68-yard dagger by Bo Scarbrough finished the Huskies off 24-7.

There was a scary moment as Dalvin Thomlinson, Reuben Foster, and Minkah Fitzpatrick collided and all went to the sideline — and Minkah had to go to the Magic Tent. [All three would later return.] Two plays later Reuben Foster forced a bad pass, and Ryan Anderson capitalized, taking it 22-yards to the house on his first career interception.

Enjoy this one, folks. Now, sit back and find out the Tide’s opponent in next week’s national title tilt.
