Recruiting Update: Top Mississippi Corner Opts For the Crimson Tide

A rare get for the Tide out of the Magnolia State.

Nigel Knott chose his birthday to give himself a present in announcing that he will sign with the Crimson Tide. The 4-star cornerback hails from Madison, Mississippi where he played at Germantown High School. At 5'11" and 174 lbs, he ranks as one of the top five in the nation at his position.

Alabama was not always a lock for Knott. Born in Oxford, his father and godfather played football at Ole Miss and his mother attended Ole Miss as well. His sister Deja Givens is a junior on the Mississippi State women’s track and field team. But he has chosen his own route.

Originally, Oregon looked like his landing spot but the distance from home proved to be too much and he eliminated the Ducks.

Knott is a very fast and agile athlete with excellent recovery skills in coverage. He is still raw overall and needs to put on some weight (paging Dr. Cochran), but the skill-set is there and he has a ton of potential.

Credit Bo Davis and Jeremy Pruitt for this commitment. Now if they can just keep him convinced until he signs that paper.

Alabama beat out Mississippi State and Ole Miss with Oregon a distant runner-up.
