Former Alabama forward JaMychal Green is now an NBA starter in the Grizzlies front court-centered scheme.

Montgomery native JaMychal Green starting for Grizzlies

JaMychal Green is getting his chance to start full time for Memphis. With veteran center Marc Gasol out indefinitely with a broken foot, Green has started the last three games for the Grizzlies (32-23). Green scored a career-high 13 points in 21 minutes in a 109-90 win Feb. 10 at Brooklyn. After the all-star break, Green had a career-high three blocks and three steals to go along with nine points and 11 rebounds, one short of a career high, in Friday's 109-104 win against Minnesota.

News came out of Memphis today that Gasol had successful foot surgery, but will miss the rest of the season. With the departure of (Uncle) Jeff Green, more time is immediately available for the formerly-troubled Alabama product.

Here's to making the best of second chances, and best of luck, JaMychal.
