Dominating pitching powers Alabama to Super Regional berth

Alexis Osorio and Sydney Littlejohn were spectacular in the Tuscaloosa Regional.

On a balmy Tuscaloosa weekend, the only thing hotter than the weather was Alexis Osorio and Sydney Littlejohn. Alabama swept through the competition, allowing a total of one run, en route to a Super Regional appearance next Saturday, where it looks to host the winner of the No. 11 Washington Huskies and the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

In a Regional where offense was hard to come by, Osorio was the star. The Sophomore, who had been touched up a bit this season, was practically unhitabble. She blanked Samford 3-0 on Friday night, came in for the assist in a 3-1 game vs. Cal on Saturday, and, in the rematch with the Golden Bears, was dominant again, as the Tide blanked the Bears 8-0 to take the region. Osorio did not allow a run in any of her appearances.

It has, as expected, been a great weekend for the SEC's powers thus far: as of this writing, the Auburn Tigers, Florida Gators, and LSU Tigers have punched their super regional tickets. By tonight, the less-decorated Texas A&M Aggies, Tennessee Volunteers, Kentucky Wildcats, and Ole Miss Rebels can join them in Super Regional play next weekend.

Roll Tide, Ladies.
