College: The University of Alabama - After a redshirt year, he became the starting right tackle and started four seasons on the offensive line for the Crimson Tide. His first three years, he played tackle before shifting to left guard as a senior. He started 47 consecutive games beginning in the fourth game of his redshirt freshman year.

As a senior, he led the team with 75 knockdown blocks and played over 600 snaps. He was named a consensus All-SEC.
