Tide picks up commitment from 2018 4-star Georgia running back, Dameon Pierce

It may be the NCAA's recruiting Dead Period, but Alabama picks up a polished RB prospect over the Holiday weekend.

Dameon Pierce, a 2018 blue-chipper out of Bainbridge, GA committed to Alabama over the Holiday weekend.

Pierce isn't quite as large as the last few feature backs the Tide have landed, but what he lacks in sheer stature, he makes up for with good vision in traffic, decent feet for a high school prospect, and very good game-speed acceleration. The 5'11, 205-pounder runs a 4.51 and already has an SEC-made frame to be a productive player.

Perhaps better, Pierce is comfortable running out several different looks -- from read-option shotgun formations to single back pro-sets and pro-spread. This is, of course, meaningful given the evolution of the Alabama offense over the past few seasons, the skills players on hand (and committed,) as well as the almost-certainty that Coach Kiffin will be snatched up in the carousel this offseason when his USC buyout has concluded, necessitating a change in offensive coordinators.
