Alabama has added a big man to their roster in Bola Olaniyan. The 6-foot-7, 220 lbs. center is a graduate transferring from Southern Illinois and will be immediately eligible.

Olaniyan averaged 7.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game on his way to being named to the MVC Conference Most Improved Team last season. He seemed to get stronger as the season went on recording double-doubles in four of his last six games with the Salukis. He had double-digit rebounds in thirteen games this past season, peaking out at 16 against Wichita State. His field goal percentage was a respectable .566 but his free throw percentage languished at .663.

A native of Nigeria, Olaniyan made an official visit to Tuscaloosa last Thursday. He recently visited Houston and Pittsburgh as well. He also considered Georgia Tech, Iona and UNLV. First-year Tide assistant John Pelphrey is Olaniyan’s primary recruiter.
