Alabama Crimson Tide Recruiting Update

Be up-to-date with the latest news, performances and rumors from the Alabama recruiting trail.

Tua Tagovailoa
Dual-threat, Alabama commit Tua Tagovailoa dominated in his most recent high school game. This and other recruiting info below.

Alabama, who usually recruits pretty well if you ask me, is basically doing the same for the 2016-2017 season. Here, I will be keeping you up-to-date with all things Alabama recruiting, including rumors, news and performances from commits.

Tua Tagovailoa continues to impress, scores nine (!!!!!) touchdowns in game

Five-star, dual-threat quarterback Tua Tagovailoa showed out for St. Louis High School on Friday, accounting for 447 yards passing, as well as 104 yards on the ground. The young Hawaiian was responsible for just about 94 percent of his team’s total offense. Tua threw a lot of touchdowns, but one of his most impressive was the eighth touchdown he scored, a beautiful strike to the corner of the endzone:

Tua adds this impressive game to his resume that includes Elite 11 MVP, and his recent, shiny new upgrade to five-star recruit by the 247 Composite rankings.

Five-star Linebacker Dylan Moses sets commitment date

Both Alabama and LSU have been pursuing Moses since he was just 14 years old, and now the 2017 recruit has set his official date for his commitment, as reported by this tweet by Moses himself:

Moses is currently ranked fourth in 247Sports composite rankings. Moses had been committed to LSU for two years of his recruitment, but decided to de-commit in August of 2015. Alabama and LSU are still the heavy favorites to land Moses, but Texas as well as Ohio State are still schools to watch out for, as well as Houston, who has caught the attention of Moses as of late. Moses will take his official visit to Tuscaloosa on Oct. 1 when the Crimson Tide take on Kentucky.

LaBryan Ray has big night for James Clemens, follows it up with unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa

Ray, the number one strong side defensive end in Alabama, lit it up in James Clemens’ (Madison, AL) game against Gadsden City. Ray recorded 10 tackles, as well as three quarterback hurries for the Jets. The highlight of the night came when Ray blocked a punt and returned it seven yards for a touchdown. Ray is one of Alabama’s targets for the 2017 class, and many top recruiting outlets (such as 247 and Rivals) have him leaning towards Alabama. After his performance, Ray took an unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa to watch Alabama take on Western Kentucky, as reported by Hank South of 247sports. Ray was recruited by Lane Kiffin.

Below is a video of Ray’s blocked punt:

Other Notables:

-Four-Star quarterback Mac Jones visits Tuscaloosa and attends first Alabama Football Game. Jones told Drew Champlin of AL.com:

"Pregame, being on the field and seeing the stands fill up was awesome. Obviously, it was not as big as an SEC game, but it was still a really cool thing and an awesome atmosphere."

Jones has been committed to Alabama since June 6, 2016.

-Najee Harris (No. 1 recruit in the country according to 247composite rankings) rushed for 255 yards on 20 carries, and also totaled three touchdowns in just one half for Antioch High School in California. Harris is currently committed to Alabama.

-Tuscaloosa Native and four-star running back Brian Robinson scored two rushing touchdowns for Hillcrest in the team’s victory over Bessemer City.
