Alabama fans have been blessed with four seasons of O.J. Howard. Now that he is heading off to the NFL, he leaves quite a void at the tight end position.
Major Tennison is not expected to be an All-American as a freshman but he is the highest rated tight end that the Crimson Tide has signed since Howard joined the team in 2013.
Tennison is used in a multi-functional way in high school and is a mismatch -- as a slot wide receiver -- for defenses, but has the look of a prospect who could develop into a true in-line tight end. He runs really well for a prospect at his size and gets up the field field very quickly, but is not a 'make them miss' guy when a defender closes quickly on him as he tries to get into his route or gets in the open field. He is an accomplished pass catcher on the high school level and will be a threat to catch the football in a college offense, giving the quarterback an extra weapon whenever he steps onto the field. - Greg Powers scout.com
This consensus 4-star was also the long snapper for his high school team.
Tennison is from Bullard, TX. He stands 6'6" and weighs 240 lbs. He is currently enrolled at the University of Alabama for the spring semester.
He chose the Crimson Tide over 13 other offers including Michigan and Georgia, who finished second and third for him.
