Week 7 Afternoon College Football schedule, viewing guide and why-to-watch

Here’s your schedule in Eastern, what we’re watching today, and why. All times Eastern.

Texas A&M at Florida (-3) 7:00 EST

Florida, already down nine players, is without two more today, including its sole playmaker. An angry Ags team comes to town, looking to impose its will on a...generous Gator front seven. By name-brand rep and point spread, it looks to be a close game. I don’t see how Florida keeps it within ten points touchdowns though.

Auburn at LSU (+7.5) 3:30 EST

Auburn hasn’t won in Baton Rouge since 1999. LSU got a much-needed confidence boost with its win in the Swamp last week. Can the heauxm Tigers put it together? How will Auburn look in its first road game since the season opener versus Clemson? This could be a great game...improbably. I fnot, it’s a chance for the Barn to get O’s agent on notice.

Georgia Tech at Miami (-6.5) 3:30 EST

If there’s any knock on the ‘Canes, it’s their rushing defense. If there’s any knock on the Jackets, it’s their passing defense. This is truly a strength-on-strength game with the potential to determine the Coastal winner.

Red River Shootout (never Showdown, shut up league market wonks.)

Oklahoma -9 vs. Texas 3:30 EST

Good thing the Sooners got that choke out last week, elsewise a suddenly surging Texas team would be the obvious candidate. Usually played closer than the records indicates, this is first meeting of two new head men. As a novelty, that will be worth keeping an eye on.

No. 25 Navy at Memphis (-7) 3:45

Memphis has dropped two straight to the Middies. Then again, this isn’t the Coach Ken Middies of the past two seasons. If the Tigers are going to keep pace in the AAC, they’ll never get a better shot than this one against Navy.
