When I did the preseason Blogpoll, I had Miami and Wisconsin in the Top 10 but eventually losing conference championship games: Schedules matter. Here we are, after 10 weeks in the book, and there are those two winning unimpressive, ugly games. But, win they have.
And, that is the problem with far too many contenders this season, one endemic in college football as a whole: Consistency. Some teams have been very consistent: Notre Dame, Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, UCF come to mind. The Big 10 can claim no such consistent team, outside of the second-half Badgers. We may need to revise our opinion of them: when everyone else is dropping games, sometimes badly, to mediocre-to-bad teams, then the consistent, fundamentally-sound football in Madison probably deserves a second-look. And, every word we say about UW is applicable to the maddening Miami Hurricanes who just keep winning.
Playoff Projections:
1. Alabama
2. Notre Dame
3. Oklahoma
4. Ohio State Clemson
