Alabama got huge news on Wednesday, as top juco CB Saivion Smith announced his commitment to the Tide:
At 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, Smith is rated the No. 1 junior college cornerback and the No. 4 overall junior college player, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.
Smith appeared in 10 games for the Bayou Bengals as a freshman, recording four tackles and two pass breakups. Smith was expected to take on a larger role in LSU's secondary this fall before electing to leave the program earlier this year.
Many had assumed that Smith would wind up in Tuscaloosa, with expected attrition likely to create many openings in the 2018 secondary. Smith may have been the most important target in this class and, as usual, Saban got his man.
Roll Tide, Saivion!
