Another Selection Sunday, another expected NIT reveal for the Alabama Crimson Tide. With a returning core that features Braxton Key, Dazon Ingram, Riley Norris, and Donta Hall, plus a top-5 recruiting class that includes one Collin Sexton, who is good enough to contend for SEC Player of the Year next season, this will hopefully be the last Selection Sunday for a while where Tide fans will have to stick around for the NIT Selection Show.
With that being said, ‘Bama is 100% going to be playing in the NIT in 2017. Most bracketologists (myself included) have the Tide slated to be a 3-seed, but I wouldn’t be stunned to see them pushed up to the 2-line after this week’s performance in Nashville, as the NIT has been known to move seed lines for hot teams and brand names. Regardless, Alabama should be hosting a 1st Round game in Tuscaloosa this week.
Kentucky should be a 2-seed in the NCAA Tournament, with Florida, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt joining them in the big dance. Georgia and Ole Miss will be NIT-bound as well, with Tennessee and Texas A&M on the bubble (but likely out) for the lesser tournament.
The NCAA Selection Show starts at 4:30 PM CDT on CBS, and the NIT Selection Show will be at 7:30 PM CDT on ESPNU.
