Draft analyst on OJ Howard: “He is the most complete tight end of this class”

Sticking around for his senior season has earned Howard a high first round grade

Lately, the Lions have made a lot of noise with respect to taking a tight end in general, and Howard specifically. And, Detroit seems a good fit for the vertical, pass-friendly offense in the Motor City — this doesn’t seem to be gaslighting by the long-suffering franchise. For Howard, that late first/early second round grade of last season has skyrocketed to a potential Top-10 pick with his demonstrable consistency and the inroads he made to become a better blocker.

Yesterday CBS Sports’ Aaron Taylor did an interview breakdown of Tide star tight end O.J. Howard. His evaluation could not have been more glowing. Among other things, Taylor said of Howard:

This position (tight end) is one of the strongest and deepest in this draft and I think that OJ Howard is the most guaranteed pick. The most complete tight end of this class… He’s an open field, run after the catch type player. He’s a guy that you can match up on a safety with a bubble and he is going to find a way to separate and take the football to the house. I love him when he is in line attached from the line of scrimmage. He’s a willing blocker. He looks to finish. He still has to do some refining there, but OJ Howard’s upside is all up.

Roll Tide, OJ. Get that paper.
