Alabama won but it wasn’t pretty. The Tide built a 15 point lead but let Ottawa chip away at the lead to make it a 5 point game with 1:30 to play. Late buckets by Avery Johnson Jr and John Petty pushed it back at a nine point game and Bama held on.
Braxton Key scored 11 in the first half but was rather sloppy in the second half. (Editorial: I cannot for the life of me understand why Coach Johnson wants Key bringing the ball up court. He did it a lot last year and he did it again in this game, and it rarely turned out well) Riley Norris was scoreless in the first half but came back with 13 in the second. Donta Hall was 5-5 from the field with 8 rebounds. Petty had 11 points and 8 boards.
Turnover numbers were not available at post time but the Tide had a good bit. Giddens fouled out, and as you can see below 3-point shooting was not good (27%). Free throw shooting needs improvement as well (60%). But a win is a win. Alabama heads back South to prepare for the season.
Dazon Ingram and Collin Sexton did not play.
