We have some great news from the other team ‘Bama fans are excited for: basketball.
Yesterday, the University released game times and viewing guide for the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. If you will recall, Alabama drew a good measuring stick with Oklahoma, a perrenial Top 10 team. We’ll see how good, how quickly, the Tide have become in January, right before the SEC schedule opens:
Alabama will play host to Oklahoma on Jan. 27 in Coleman Coliseum in the annual event. The game will tip off at 2:15 p.m. ET (1:15 p.m. CT) and will be one of four contests in the challenge televised on ESPN.
In addition to the four ESPN contests, four games will air on ESPN2 and two games will be shown on ESPNU. All 10 games will also be available on the Watch ESPN app.

And, yesterday, Alabama Athletics tweeted out preliminaries for the Tipoff event, the precursor to the hoops season (and ‘Bama’s version of Midnight Madness...only without the midnight, because our Marketing and Promotions department hates fun generally and students specifically.)
Here’s what Potter at 24/7 has to say:
The Alabama men's and women's basketball teams will welcome in the new season with the third annual SUPE Store Tide Tipoff, which will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Coleman Coliseum. The evening will be feature entertainment, giveaways and prizes.
Doors for the event will open at 6 p.m. CT. The on-court portion of the event begins at 7 p.m., as the teams will then participate in a variety of activities.
Seating at the event will be first come, first serve with general admission seating. More details surrounding the event will be released at a later time.
It’s almost that time, y’all!
