Minkah Fitzpatrick, Bo Scarbrough, and Ronnie Harrison joined Nick Saban Thursday for the first press conference back in Tuscaloosa since the National Championship win in Atlanta on Monday. Not in attendance were Calvin Ridley and Da’Ron Payne who were not able to make it to the presser. All five have all opted to declare for the 2018 NFL Draft.
Saban said from a business standpoint, these are good decisions. Scarbrough and Harrison could graduate by May and Fitzpatrick by August.
Fitzpatrick said his years at Alabama were the best of his life. “It was an a honor and blessing to be a part of this University. I am forever grateful.”
Scarbrough was next. He thanked the University, the coaches, staff, and especially the academic staff. He thanked Saban who “helped me become a man” and “made me a better person.” “Forever Roll Tide.”
Harrison said he “as a recruit, I wasn’t too highly recruited,” but said playing at Alabama “changed me as a man.” “Roll Tide Forever.”
It was short and sweet and no questions were taken, although I am sure the press were privy to questions afterwards.
Fitzpatrick, Payne, and Ridley are projected to go in the first round. Minkah could go as high as #4 to (cringe) the Cleveland Browns. Harrison looks like a second rounder. Scarbrough may have to wait a few rounds to hear his name in this running back heavy draft (Saquon Barkley, Derrius Guice, Nick Chubb, Sony Michel, Ronald Jones, Kerryon Johnson).
