The latest CBS NFL Draft predictions have four Alabama football players going in the first round, including two picks in the first eight selections.
- Minkah Fitzpatrick 3, Indianapolis Colts (1st DB taken)
- Calvin Ridley 8, Chicago Bears (1st WR taken)
- Ronnie Harrison 31, Philadelphia Eagles (2nd S taken)
- Rashaan Evans 32, New England Patriots (4th LB)
If Alabama does place four in the first round it will tie a school record set three other times (2011, 2012, 2017.) Additionally, the two picks inside the Top 10 would be just behind 2011 (Marcell Dareus, Julio Jones) and 2012 (Trent Richardson, Mark Barron.)
Rashaan Evans may actually be a little low in this mock, based on some other drafts we’ve seen. And, I don’t see any scenario where Da’Ron Payne is not taken off the board in the first round: He’s a game-changing nose tackle that you can build a defense around.
Still, four first round selections would be 27 first-rounders Nick Saban and staff have developed in this 11-year Alabama dynasty. And, if Payne does go in the first with the other four, it will set a Tide record for NFL Draft excellence.
