Colorado State at Boise State (-23½, o/u 63) 8:00 PM Central ESPN2
A match-up of big arms will be on tap in Boise with the Rams K.J. Carta-Samuels facing off against Brett Rypien in a Mountain West divisional game.
Colorado State started off 1-4 with losses to Hawaii, Colorado, Florida and Illinois State (?!?!?) but beat Arkansas in a home game. They have since won two in a row over winless San Jose State and 3-3 New Mexico but now face the unenviable task of traveling to Smurfville.
The Broncos have not had the kind of season predicted by the preseason prognosticators having already lost two of six games, one being at home two weeks ago against San Diego State.
It’s a Family Affair: Rypien is the nephew of former Redskins two-time Super Bowl champion QB Mark Rypien. Carta-Samuels’ brother Austyn, was starting QB for Vanderbilt in 2013 when the ‘Dores went 9-4 and finished ranked 24th in the nation.
Air Force (-9½; o/u 56½) at UNLV 9:00 PM Central CBSSN
A pair of 2-4 Mountain West teams battle to stay out of the basement of their respected divisions and get their first conference win.
As per usual, the Falcons run the triple option but have suffered for their offensive strategy with injuries to their quarterbacks. They have been forced to start three different signal-callers this season. Vegas lost their starting quarterback to a toe injury three weeks ago and have lost three straight. The Rebels also lean heavily on their rushing attack and have completed only 44% of their passes on the season.
