Antonio Alfano from Colonia, NJ is often cited by analysts as their favorite among 2019 prospects currently committed to Alabama, and a monster senior season has sent his stock soaring, as he is now the #8 overall player according to the most recent Top247 list.
From BamaOnline:
Alfano amassed 76 tackles, including 28 tackles for a loss, 10 sacks, 17 quarterback hurries, 6 forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, a blocked field goal and three pass breakups all in nine games. To go along with that, Alfano made major impact on offense tallying 46 pancake blocks.
“I’m just trying to go out there and give it everything I’ve got,” Alfano said earlier this season. “At the same time I’m trying to go out there and put things together, see what works for me, and try to prepare for the next level at Alabama.”
Watching Alfano’s film, it’s easy to see what the staff sees in him. He stands 6-foot-4 and already weighs in at over 280 pounds - and it’s all good weight. He is as solid as they come in the run game, gets after the passer, and has plenty of stamina after starting on both lines of scrimmage for the bulk of the season. As one of a bevy of early enrollee candidates in this class, Antonio should be ready to come in and contribute right away on a line that may well lose all three starters to the NFL Draft.
