Quinnen Williams was undoubtedly the defensive star of last night’s game, and he is being recognized nationally today. From Matt Zenitz at ALcom:
Alabama’s redshirt sophomore defensive lineman was named Walter Camp national defensive player of the week on Sunday.
Williams had his latest big-time game during the Crimson Tide’s win over LSU Saturday night. He had a team-high 10 tackles, 3.5 stops for a loss and 2.5 sacks.
Quinnen took a voluntary redshirt when Jonathan Allen decided to return to school, and his patience has paid off in a big way. He has made tremendous strides under DL coach Craig Kuligowski, to the point that many draft boards have him ranked as the top defensive tackle in the country ahead of Houston superstar Ed Oliver. Congratulations to him on this honor, and I’m sure there will be more to come.
Roll Tide!
