Alabama Football Recruiting: National Signing Day 2018 Live Open Thread

NCAA Football: CFP National Championship-Alabama Celebration
“We’re not done YET!”
Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to National Signing Day 2018. Last year was a bonanza of superstars in the making that propelled Alabama to another #1 recruiting class. This year, the Tide will not have the top class but should still land in the Top 10. This is partly due to the limit of 23 that the Tide can sign plus the unpredictability that the Early Signing Period rained down on the recruiting landscape.

HOW TO WATCH:

(All times are CT)

RollTide.com will have a live Signing Day show from 9am to noon with Eli Gold, Barrett Jones and Chris Stewart, which is also available on TideTV, Facebook Live, WVUA and the Watch ESPN App (SECN+).

ESPN2 11am-3pm
ESPNU 3pm-6pm
SEC Network 11am-2pm

Nick Saban will hold his Signing Day press conference at 4pm which can also be seen live on Rolltide.com.

IS THAT EVERYONE?

Knowing Nick Saban, he could have an ace or two up his sleeve. You may recall two years ago the Tide picked up Joshua Jacobs in a whirlwind romance.

Brent, Erik, Josh, and I will be updating this page as each commitment rolls in. So, you may need to hit refresh a few times. Also, we will attempt to answer your questions in the comments section, so fire away! Crazy comments are welcome too but please refrain from posting jpgs and gifs so the page has an easier refresh rate.

Note: there will not be a Jumbo Package today. All of the Tide articles are about recruiting, and you have us, so what more do you need, really?

TERMINOLOGY:

In case you are new to RBR and/or to crootin, here is a little cheat sheet of the terminology and abbrevs we use:

RBR - RollBamaRoll.com, y’all!

Crootin’ - Our loving way of referring to recruiting.

NSD - National Signing Day, which is today, Feb. 7, 2018.

ESP - The inaugural Early Signing Period was December 20, 2017.

LOI/NLI - Letter of Intent or National Letter of Intent, which recruits and their parent or guardian sign and fax - YES fax! - into the school of their choice to make it official.

EE - Early Enrollee, guys who graduate high school early and enroll in January so they can play Spring ball.

RS - Redshirt.

Greyshirt - A player who puts off his college enrollment until January of the following year and counts against the next class.

Blueshirt - A player who puts off his college enrollment until August and counts against the current class. This usually helps squeeze a guy in after someone leaves the program over the summer.

Grad-transfer - A player who has earned his undergraduate diploma and still has eligibility may transfer and not sit out a year.

UPDATES:

UPDATE: The first surprise of the day has Bobby Brown signing with Texas A&M.

UPDATE: QB Tanner McKee picked Stanford to the surprise of nobody. He will go on a two-year Mormon mission and enroll in 2020.

UPDATE: LB Quay Walker picks Georgia. [Unsubstantiated reports are saying Kirby Smart asked him to wait until NSD to announce, so UGA could make a show of flipping from Bama. Insiders like Andrew Bone knew ahead of time that Walker was not signing with Bama.]
