2018 SEC Tournament Quarterfinals: Auburn Game Thread

Alabama lives! Can they upset hated Auburn and lock up a spot in the NCAA Tournament?

NCAA Basketball: Auburn at Alabama Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

With an epic 71-70 win over the Texas A&M Aggies on Thursday afternoon, the Alabama Crimson Tide live to play another day in the SEC Tournament, and, more importantly, keep their chances of making the NCAA Tournament alive. Next up, the Tide will take on the hated Auburn Tigers in the quarterfinals. This will be the rubber match for these two teams, as each was able to hold serve at home.

Auburn is obviously a really good basketball team, but the loss of starting post Anfernee McLemore has made them a bit more vulnerable. Alabama has a strong chance of winning this game, especially if Collin Sexton can carry over his performance from Thursday. This is a massive game for the Tide, as a win basically guarantees them a spot in the NCAA Tournament. A loss likely makes it a 50/50 situation where all Tide Hoops fans will be sweating it out on Sunday.

Also, it’s Auburn. This is the first time since 1999 that these two teams will meet in the post-season. 1999 was also pretty close to the last time Auburn basketball was at all relevant.

The game tips-off a noon CST again, this time on ESPN. Roll Tide.
