Four-star OT Tanner Bowles commits to Alabama

The 2019 class gets another big piece.

Student Sports

The Tide added yet another commitment to the 2019 class when Glasgow, KY product Tanner Bowles made his pledge. Tanner’s stock has risen rapidly leading into his senior year:

Tanner Bowles offer sheet looks like a preseason top ten. In February alone the talented offensive lineman has received offers from Stanford, Georgia, Ohio State, Florida State, Alabama, and the University of Southern California to go along with Penn State, Oklahoma, LSU, Tennessee, and others. Nine of those schools will likely be preseason top-ten selections or close to it.

So, what exactly will OL coach Brent Key be getting in Tanner?

Per Steve Wiltfong at 247 sports:

He’s another guy that shows toughness and aggressiveness. He attacks defensive linemen. He doesn’t just fall on guys, he’s not big and sloppy. He’s athletic and he’s a people mover. A lot of drive blocking on that tape. A lot of taking defensive linemen out of the play. He’s going to bring the right mentality to Tuscaloosa, and we’ll see where it goes from there.

Bowles is listed at 6’5” and 280 pounds, leaving plenty of room for Scott Cochran to work. He is a four-star and currently rated the #28 tackle prospect, but considering the offer list will probably move up some in that regard. With his commitment, the Tide briefly jumped to #1 in the composite, only to fall back to #2 with the decommitment of safety Brendan Gant. Still, this class is looking stellar.

Welcome, Tanner, and Roll Tide!
