Alabama Football Recruiting: Crimson Tide Momentum Keeps Rolling

Elite left tackle Amari Kight has made his verbal pledge to sign with the Crimson Tide via a video released on Sunday.

Kight is teammates at Thompson High School in Alabaster, AL with 4-star QB Taulia Tagovailoa, who made his commitment on April 21. Both prospects made several unofficial visits to Tuscaloosa this spring including A-Day last weekend. That was a big factor but this weekend’s NFL Draft helped as well.

“I watched the NFL Draft and I saw all of the Alabama guys being drafted, so that played into it too. That is where I want to be one day, so that was pretty important.”

Rivals

Kight stands 6-foot-7 and 315 pounds. 247Sports Comp ranks him the No. 8 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 52 overall player. He also visited UGA and Auburn at various times but the lifelong Tide fan never really considered going anywhere else. Brent Key is credited with his recruitment.

The Crimson Tide continues on a recruiting hot streak picking up six recruits in the month of April with none rated below 4-stars. Kight is the state’s No. 3 rated player behind Tide 5-star commit Pierce Quick and uncommitted 5-star Clay Webb who appers to be a strong Bama lean. All three are offensive linemen.
