No work, lotsa play

With most of us off work to celebrate 242 years of independence from that darn tyrannical King George III, there are many great events going on domestically and internationally.

MLB

As always, there is baseball. The highlight of the day is a noonday clash between the Atlanta Braves and the New York Yankees. According to wikipedia, “British General James Wolfe made the earliest recorded use of the word Yankee in 1758 to refer to people from what became the United States.” How’d that work out for you, Wolfey? AJ McCarron is Yankees fan. Nick Saban ran out of gas in a Yankees t-shirt. Former Bama pitcher David Robertson plays for the Yanks. I’m still cheering for the Braves.

KICKBALL

The World Cup has thinned the herd as they get down to the Elite 8. Despite them rascally redcoats that tried to tax us without representation, I am rooting for England.

TENNIS

Wimbledon is just getting under way. Former Bama players Erin Routliffe and Alexa Guarachi won two qualifying rounds in straight sets for the honor of playing the third seeded women’s doubles team.

SWAPPING PAINT

NASCAR has the day off but prep for a big weekend at Daytona. It’s so sad there are no more Allisons around to root for. In the meantime...

DO YOUR THING

If you are lucky to have a job that closes up shop for the rest of the week or if you have vacation days, then you have a nice long weekend away from your idiot boss and his moron nephew who will be taking over the business someday. But that is my cross to bear...

So, watcha got going? Beach? Lake? Chores around the house? Sitting on the arse? Any random thoughts? Did John Wilkes Booth actually get away and live out his days in Enid, Oklahoma?
