Last season, two key members of the Tide linebacker corps suffered key injuries in the season opener. Well, the injury bug decided to bite a little earlier this season.
Saban says LB Chris Allen suffered a knee injury that required surgery and he'll be out for the season, also confirmed RT Matt Womack stepped on somebody's foot the other day & broke his foot again, will likely be out 4-6 weeks.

Allen was in line to be a top backup, perhaps at both the inside and outside positions as he had been seen shadowing Dylan Moses recently. This is yet another blow to a unit that has already lost Terrell Lewis to an ACL tear. Fortunately the Tide has recruited well at the position, but Saban is clearly concerned about the depth at this point.
After repeatedly complaining about an apparent gap between #Alabama's expected starters and the rest of his roster, I asked Nick Saban how concerned he was with the team's quality depth beyond the first-team unit with a week left in preseason.

If nothing else, we just got another Sabanism. While it’s great that the two freshmen in question are the enormously talented Eyabi Anoma and Cameron Latu, we should probably expect starters Christian Miller and Anfernee Jennings, plus ILB starters Dylan Moses and Mack Wilson to come out of games as early as practicable from the opener on. Fortunately Jamey Mosley is expected back soon to provide some depth.
UPDATE:
Nick Saban said Daniel Wright participated in Saturday’s scrimmage in a black jersey and “got a lot of reps”. Mosley “has been practicing some but no contact” and did not scrimmage. Saban expects him back “next week”. ~CB969
