Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Louisville Cardinals: 2nd Half Open Thread

That was fun

NCAA Football: Louisville at Alabama Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

Tua Tagovailoa is 11/15 for 195 yards and 2 touchdowns, and has added 5 carries for 26 yards and another score on the ground. Those are good numbers for a full game, let alone only part of a first half.

If you, for some reason, weren’t watching, the lefty sophomore opened the game as the Tide’s QB and led the team to 3 touchdowns of 4 drives (with the only stalled drive coming from a fumble by DeVonte Smith after a 15-yard reception). Jalen Hurts came in for a couple of drives and threw a couple of nice balls, but ultimately had both drives end in punts.

Tua came back in the game with less than 30 seconds left in the final drive, and dropped a beauty of a strike to Jerry Jeudy in the back of the endzone.

Meanwhile, the Tide defense has totally smothered the Louisville rushing game, but has struggled to generate much of a pass rush. The revamped secondary is playing well defending the deep ball, with Deionte Thompson showing out back there, but the lack of pass rush is giving Cardinal QB Jawon Pass time to complete some nice throws in the intermediate middle of the field. They’ve scored all of 0 points, but its an area of imperfection that you know Nick Saban is happy to have as a teaching point during the upcoming week.

Enjoy the 2nd half.

Roll Tide!
