Alabama vs Ole Miss Second Half Open Thread

Well that was a fun first half. Let’s do it again some time.

NCAA Football: Alabama at Mississippi Matt Bush-USA TODAY Sports

In the words of friend of mine from Seattle: “Alabama is fully operational death star that finally figured out it’s allowed to have a quarterback.”

If I told you that Ole Miss scored on the opening play, while Alabama lost a fumble and missed a field goal, would you believe we went into halftime up 49-7? Well we are, and here we are.

Tua Tagovailoa completed 11/15 passes for 191 yards and 2 touchdowns before Jalen Hurts relieved him and went 5/6 for 57 yards and 2 more touchdowns. Plus, Damien Harris, Najee Harris, and Josh Jacobs all got 1 rushing touchdown apiece.

I never really knew what it was like to cheer for a team with an offense that I truly enjoyed watching until now. And despite the opening drive’s snafu, the defense has since constricted and kept Ole Miss off the scoreboard ever since.

Oh, and Jerry Jeudy is working on his Heisman case. 3 catches for 136 yards and 2 touchdowns, plus he broke the soul of an Ole Miss defender on a juke that rivaled that of Trent Richardson’s back in 2009.

We’re most likely to about to see a whole bunch of running plays with Hurts and Mac Jones handing it off for most of the 2nd half, so feel free to tune out early. I won’t blame you. But if you’re a true fan, you can talk about how well the back ups look on here in the mean time. Enjoy the second half (and also the fact that Auburn, FSU, Arkansas, and Wisconsin all lost games they never should have lost). It’s been a really fun week 3 so far.
